Canadian Operations

The Celgar mill has a number of permits regulating air and effluent emissions. Celgar achieved substantial compliance with these applicable regulations and permits. In March 2007, its air permit was amended to include a single mill wide limit for SO2 from the mill. Since this amendment, the mill has been in full compliance with this limit.

The Celgar mill operates two landfills, a newly commissioned site and an older site. The Celgar mill intends to decommission the old landfill and is currently developing a closure plan. The plan must accommodate landfill sections that remain in use as well as an adjacent landfill from another company. Regulatory authorities are aware of the complications surrounding the old landfill closure plans.
